LCD Projectors


An LCD projector is not inexpensive. Therefore, if you are considering purchasing one, you will need to give it some thought and consider what your company’s needs are. You will want to consider which features are important to you and also what you can afford. Regarding an LCD projector, you will want to carefully take a look at the projector’s resolution, connectivity, brightness and lamp light life.

If you are purchasing your LCD projector for at-home you may not require a very bright one. However, if you are a professor in a classroom, large lecture hall or a company that gives presentations in conference rooms, you will need a brighter LCD projector. When you are looking at projectors you’ll see something that reads “SVGA 800x600” or you “UXGA 1600 x 1200,” on the box. These are the resolutions of the LCD projector. The higher the number and resolution, the more that you will have to pay. If you plan to use your projector for simple presentations done with PowerPoint, then you may be able to get by with SVGA resolution. If you have to show a lot of numbers than you may want to go a little bit higher with XGA. Keep in mind, the more accurate you need the picture to show, the higher the resolution you will need to purchase.

The projector contrast is another important feature of the LCD projector. If you plan on showing video or graphics, you will want a look for a projector with at least a 400 to 1 contrast ratio.

The LCD projector’s connectivity is another feature. You want a find an LCD projector that is able to work with your computer. Portability is also another issue. The weight of the projector really will depend on what you need it for. If you are going to be on the go and will make a lot of presentations, you will want to get as light an LSD projector as you can, but that will also meet your needs. Lamp life is another important feature of your LCD projector. Keep in mind that to replace your lamp light will cost you a couple of hundred dollars. Therefore, you will want to purchase a projector lamp that lasts as long as possible. Try to find one that lasts at least 2000 hrs
